It’s that time of the year again… Christmas!

And that usually means we are drinking, enjoying the Christmas ham all month long, and eating Pavlova at every Christmas party. But you don’t have to have a holiday blowout like last year and we’re here to help guide you.

We’ve compiled a list of easy tips for staying healthy during the silly season:

1. Stick to your routine

You will stay positive and motivated if you stick to your regular morning routine. Just because its holidays doesn’t mean you have to skip your 5am bike ride! Getting up at the same time as you normally would and eating a healthy breakfast will set yourself up for the day.

2. Watch your alcohol in take

Alcohol is full of sugar, so try to avoid over consumption of alcohol. Pacing your drinking with water or mineral water between each beverage will help over consumption. Try to avoid creamy cocktails or alcohol with soft drink mixers. A low calorie and low sugar option is vodka, soda water, and fresh lime – so refreshing on those hot days too!

3. Take a plate

If you are visiting friends and family, or have a Christmas party to go to, offering to bring a plate along with you will ensure there is a healthy option for you to eat. Try a fresh mango & prawn salad or a tropical fruit salad!

4. Get 30 minutes of physical activity in per day

Just because you’re on holidays doesn’t mean you should skip your daily physical activity. And remember to stretch before and after! Exercising as a family over Christmas makes it fun and feel like less of a chore.
